JFE Steel will hike the plate price for distributors by 5,000 yen per ton compared with the first half of this fiscal year from September contracts (October roll). It is the price hike for the first time in 6 months following the price up from March 2013 contracts. The firm judged that situation for price hike is ready, like firm orders of plate for vessel, increasing demand for construction machinery in preparation for emission control and increased consumption tax, bottoming out in heavy electric machinery, industrial equipment and tight supply for construction and civil fields by economic policy and reconstruction.
