Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal improved shift in the production system of rolling line in Kashima and Kimitsu works from this month as part of structural improvement for plate business. The firm changed from 3 shifts by 4 groups to 3 shifts by 3 groups. The firm drives the efficient production system in medium-term management plan from fiscal 2013. In the plate market, demand for shipbuilding, Construction Equipment and construction is improving, and this strengthening of output cut is expected to make supply and demand tighter.
