Sumitomo Electric Industries and Soitec which is a French semiconducting material maker announced on 22nd, they entered into licensing agreements about Soitec’s Smart Cut Technology. They plan to cut out a plurality of gallium nitride (GaN) thin film from a GaN basal plate made by Sumitomo Electric Industries using the technology, and stick it with low cost supporting substrate developed by Sumitomo Electric Industries. They will sell these thin film GaN basal plates for LED lighting.
