Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel (NSSC) announced on 6th that Low Alloy duplex phase stainless steel “NSSC2120 (21%Cr-2%Ni-N)” which has good weldability was adopted to big desalination plant “Ras Abu Fontas” which will be constructed in Middle East, Qatar. The use of NSSC2120 is the first time for desalination plant. Weldability and cost-effectiveness was assessed. Orders is 700 tons, and the firm will deliver about 3,200 tons in total with existingduplex phase stainless steel, in order of precedence from the end of March.
