Kobe steel developed low-alloy extremely-thick chrome molybdenum steel sheet (1.25% chrome – 0.5% molybdenum steel) which has fracture toughness for low-temperature like -30 degrees. It accommodates 160 mm thickness for the first time in the world. The firm has already shipped samples. Kobe steel plans to commercialize it near future and focus on the reaction for world firmer demand in energy field.
