Concrete reinforcing steel bar order is slow for electric furnace steel makers around Tokyo in June. The users order is delayed due to slow construction activity under shortage of the workers. The makers’ rebar shipment is estimated to be monthly 250,000 tonnes level in April and May. The shipment is lower than expected.
A rebar maker source said the users would increase the order while the users still adjust the construction working schedule with limited workers. The rebar shipment is expected to increase in fiscal 2012 started April around Tokyo from fiscal 2011 due to higher demand for building and rebuilding activity in northern Japan.
