Japan Iron and Steel Recycling Institute (JISRI) held international steel recycling forum in Kyoto on Thursday. A hundred of Japanese scrap dealers and industry players attended the forum with attendees from South Korean and Chinese industries. The second forum after Yokohama in 2010 contributed to information exchange for international scrap market.
The chairman Tsunefumi Nakatsuji said he expects the forum contributes to information exchange between the 3 countries along with mutual relationship for sustainable development in Asian economy. JISRI presented Japanese steel scrap industry including Japanese supply of scrap based on accumulated steel. The institution expects Japanese obsolete scrap supply would decrease by 0.8-2.1 million tonnes in 2020 from 2008 level. China Association of Metal Scrap Utilization (CAMU) reported Chinese scrap distribution system for better supply. Korea Iron & Steel Association (KOSA) reported Korean scrap industry.
