Nippon Kinzoku to Provide Flat Mg for India BOP Project

Nippon Kinzoku starts magnesium flat products supply to Indian magnesium battery later the year. The firm supplies the material to Aqumo Candle, which is light emitting diode lamp with magnesium battery developed by Saitama based Aqumo Holdings.

Aqumo Candle is made in India as a part of Base Of the economic Pyramid (BOP) business partnership program by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Aqumo Holdings developed magnesium battery from copper and magnesium to realize around 20 days of long service life compared with 1-2 days for traditional magnesium battery.

Indian companies start the production of Aqumo Candle in Indian cities. Aqumo Holdings provides technical support while Nippon Kinzoku and other companies provide materials and parts.

Nippon Kinzoku provides AZ31 magnesium alloy for the products and studies better material for the battery. The firm tries to provide the material in parts with 5 by 5 centimeters width and around 1 millimeter thick.
