Blast Furnace Accident to Cut Kobe Steel’s Output

Kobe Steel tries to resume normal operation of No.3 blast furnace with 4,500 cubic meters of inner volume at Kakogawa works. The furnace had trouble during restarting phase in early May from planned maintenance. The firm expects around 100,000 tonnes of production loss in steel products while the furnace resumes normal operation in early June.

The firm already finished repair of damaged tuyere of the furnace. The firm increases the production gradually. The firm tries to recover the production loss by September.

Kobe Steel’s core steel works of Kakogawa operates steel wire rod, plate and sheet steel lines.
