Fukuda Metal Foil & Powder to Expand China Cu Foil Output

Kyoto based Fukuda Metal Foil & Powder expands the electrolytic copper foil output capacity by 50% to monthly 1,500 tonnes in China for around US$ 50 million. The firm started the expansion to add new electrolytic plant building. The firm eyes high grade foil production at the Chinese plant to meet growing demand in the country.

The Chinese plant of Suzhou Fukuda Metal operates at near full capacity of monthly 1,000 tonnes for electrolytic copper foil to meet strong demand for printed circuit board. The firm decided the expansion when local users eye expansion.

Suzhou Fukuda Metal started the construction of the new plant building with 13,000 square meters of floor space on 52,000 square meters of land. The firm plans test production in March 2013 to shift commercial production as early as possible.

The firm makes foil products with 12, 18, 36, 70 and 105 micrometers of thickness at the new plant while the plant can make ultra thin 9 micrometers products. The new plant provides higher valued products in surface quality and performance. The firm eyes flexible production for high performance foil products.

The firm provided the products mainly for Japanese users. The firm now suppliers 90% of the products for Chinese users including transplants of Japanese and Taiwanese makers.
