China Steel Launch High Grade Billet Production at Dragon Steel’s Electric Furnace

China Steel of Taiwan established billet production for high grade steel bar and wire rod at Dragon Steel’s electric furnace while the firm imported the billet. China Steel uses the own billet at the wire rod making line and sells the billet to other wire rerollers. The firm tries to support the users’ competitiveness by supplying high grade materials.

Dragon Steel has made billet for concrete reinforcing steel bar at the electric furnace with annual 1.1 million tonnes of production capacity. The firm studied better utilization of the electric furnace including stainless making and high grade steel making after the start of No.1 blast furnace in 2010. The firm studied high grade billet production for a year to meet the domestic demand.

China Steel develops high valued special steel business along with the main target of carbon steel market for better profitability. The firm developed nickel alloy flat steel to expand the business to special alloy area when the users require the domestic source in applications of petrochemical, energy and space industry.

The firm established research center with National Taiwan University and CBMM of Brazil in November 2011. China Steel tries to develop steel products and expand the development areas through cooperation with CBMM and the university. China Steel also started titanium products at Chinese subsidiary in July 2011 to supply flat and wire products for petrochemical.
