Tokyo Kohtetsu, Osaka Steel to Increase Section Price for April

Tokyo Kohtetsu announced on Thursday the firm increases equal angle steel and unequal angle selling price by 5,000 yen per tonne for April shipment. The firm increases the selling price for the first time in 3 months. Osaka Steel announced on the day the firm increases equal angle, unequal angle and channel price by 3,000 yen for April order.

The electric furnace steel makers reflect higher ferrous scrap and electric power cost to the selling price. The production cost of Tokyo Kohtetsu’s plant in Tochigi will significantly increase when Tokyo Electric Power Company increases electric price for industry in April. Osaka Steel seeks additional price increase in and after May order depending on ferrous scrap cost when the firm loses the money under higher energy cost and offshore ferrous scrap price increase.
