Kobe Steel’s high strength bolt making subsidiary, Shinko Bolt tries to increase sales of double-end stud with knot to 200,000 units per year for bridge application. The firm tries to increase zinc, aluminium and magnesium coated high strength bolt for bridge and road maintenance.
Workers can fix the double-end stud with knot on enables steel concrete composite slab only from upper side due to the stopper knot. The composite slab is cost saving solution for bridge floor compared with traditional concrete placement in steel structure. But the slab fixing work needs working stage for traditional stud. The stud with knot needs no work for stage setting and removing. Kobe Steel and Shinko Bolt developed the stud in 2003. Shinko Bolt targets 100,000 units of sales per half year through better marketing. The firm got 50,000 units of order for large scale bridge work in Nagasaki, Japan. Shinko Bolt will increase sales of 5% aluminium-1% magnesium-galvanized bolt for coast and other salty areas by appealing the around 10 times higher corrosion resistance performance than normal galvanizing bolt. The firm will get approval for bolt with 16-24 millimeters diameter from Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.M | T | W | T | F | S | S |
