Japan Rolled Al Shipment Shows Y/Y Decrease for 5 Months

Japanese rolled aluminium products production decreased by 3.9% to 170,280 tonnes in October from a year earlier while the shipment decreased by 2.8% to 170,101 tonnes, announced by Japan Aluminium Association on Friday. Both production and shipment represented year-on-year decrease for 5 months in a row.

The production and shipment of flat rolled aluminium shows year-on-year decrease for 5 months in a row through October. The shipment of can material decreased by 17.6% to 29,285 tonnes. Meanwhile, the shipment for automobile increased by 14.6% to 14,121 tonnes and turned to year-on-year increase after ten months.

The production of aluminium extrusion showed year-on-year increase for three months in a row through October and the shipment turned to first increase after two months. The shipment increased by 13.9% for automobiles and by 11.4% for constructions.

As for aluminium foil, the production showed year-on-year decrease for two months in a row through October and the shipment turned to decrease after two months. The users have continued inventory adjustment both in capacitor and food industries.
