Sanyo Special Steel Installs Large Forging Press Machine

Sanyo Special Steel announced on Wednesday the firm installed a 5,000-tonne free forging press machine at the headquarters plant in Himeji, Hyogo, Japan and held a completion ceremony. The equipment will be utilized to manufacture large-size bearings used for wind power generators and industrial machines. The investment was approximately 5 billion yen. Now the plant has installed a 1,500-tpnne press machine, a 3,000-tonne press machine and a 5,000-tonne machine to cover wide size lineup.

Newly installed press machine has production capacity at 3,500 tonnes per month which can produce steel bar with maximum 800 millimeters diameter.

Construction of wind power generator is globally increasing and one generator size is enlarging. Large size bearing is mainly used for shaft of wind power generator or speed accelerating machine. High durability is also required for components of wind power generators for maintenance free.
