JFE Steel Gets First Order for 440 MPa GA UNIHITEN

JFE Steel announced on Wednesday the firm got first order for the newly developed automotive outer panel flat steel of 440 mega pascal galvannealed steel, UNI HITEN for hood panel of Isuzu Motors’ new pickup truck Isuzu D-MAX. JFE Steel already got first domestic order for 440 MPa cold rolled UNI HITEN for door panel of Suzuki Motor’s light vehicle in January.

JFE Steel developed 440 MPa UNI HITEN by controlling volume fraction and dispersion of martensite in ferrite. The product has better surface distortion during press processing due to high tensile strength and relative lower yield strength. The product also has better dent resistance due to more than 50 MPa better bake hardening performance than 340 MPa bake hardening grade steel. The firm makes UNI HITEN at Fukuyama area of West Japan Works.

JFE Steel exports 440 MPa galvannealed UNI HITEN for Thailand when Isuzu Motor makes the pickup truck D-MAX in Thai plant. JFE Steel eyes 440 MPa UNI HITEN production in Thailand after the firm’s Thai continuous galvanizing line will start operation in April 2013.
