Flat Angle and Channel Steel Market Price around Tokyo and Osaka

The market price is flat at 78,000 yen per tonne for equal angle and 78,000-80,000 yen for channel steel around Tokyo. Order hovers at low level from users to dealers in September though shipping situation is different by dealers. The supply and demand balance is starting to balance when dealers completed inventory adjustment for angle and channel steel.

Dealers’ inventory seems to lightly decrease at ended August from July around Tokyo. Dealers’ shipping decreased by some dealers and increased by other dealers in August. Dealers stay order volume in September and maintain inventory on a low level.

Large size building project is expected to be crystalized from autumn. However, dealers didn’t expect to increase order largely. Dealers’ shipment isn’t increase to the construction and industrial machineries. There is high possible that steel makers raise the sales price of angle and channel steel when ferrous scrap price shows sign to increase. Dealers sweep away low price trading and search timing of price hike.

Around Osaka, the market price is flat at 79,000 yen per tonne for equal angle and channel steel. Dealers are promoting awareness of price hike due to rebound momentum of ferrous scrap price.

Dealers are taking precedence profit and don’t reduce sales price when major angle and channel makers, Osaka Steel and JFE Bards & Shapes announced to leave sales price unchanged in September, and major dealers announced price hike after Bon Holidays in the middle of August.
