Daiwa Steel to Double Sales of Rebar with Screw Lug in F2011

Daiwa Steel, Japanese major electric furnace steel maker and the subsidiary of JFE Steel, plans to increase sales of rebar with screw lug by double to 10,000 tonnes per year in fiscal 2011 ending in March 2012 compared with the previous fiscal year. Daiwa Steel is widening material and construction method menus for its high strength rebar mechanical construction method, DS Neji Bar series, while increasing capital expenditure to improve product quality at Mizushima works. The firm also reinforced its sales system in July as well as seeks deeper sales cooperation with JFE Steel.

Daiwa Steel is trying to increase high value added steel products including DS Neji Bar series. The firm installs a reducer for a rolling machine of Mizushima works with approximately 100 million yen investment in October to improve product quality of high tensile rebar. The firm is reinforcing the sales network especially for screwed rebar in East Japan. The firm also tries to increase order receipt for rebar with screw lug in sales cooperation with JFE Steel.

The firm had advanced strategic investment to improve product quality and strengthen the waste treatment business at Mizushima works since 2008. The firm installed a ladle furnace in 2008 and started production of high quality products such as high tensile rebar. In 2009, the firm converted billet continuous casting equipment for homogenization of inner quality for billet, and installed new burner for improvement of heat efficiency and to speed up fusion of iron oxide wastage.
