H-beam Dealers Try to Keep Selling Price despite Price Reduction by Tokyo Steel

One H-beam dealer source around Tokyo see H-beam market price would not decrease while Tokyo Steel Manufacturing announced on Monday the firm reduces H-beam selling price by 2,000 yen per tonne for September order for dealers. The source expected the price reduction. The dealers try to keep current selling price under the demand slowdown.

H-beam market price is 76,000-79,000 yen per tonne around Tokyo. Some dealers tried to increase the selling price before the price announcement by Tokyo Steel. However, the dealers would try to keep current selling price or increase only low transaction after the price reduction announcement while the dealers’ selling price is below breakeven point. The dealers expect the demand increases in and after autumn.

One trading firm source around Tokyo said the source expected 2,000 yen per tonne concrete reinforcing bar selling price reduction by Tokyo Steel. The market price would gradually decrease due to the price reduction by Tokyo Steel. The firm has little market share of rebar around Tokyo. However, the users would require price cut of the dealers.
