API Integrate API Standards and ISO Standards of High-Strength Steel Pipe

High strength line pipe committee of America Petroleum Institute, API, which has standards of line pipe, will integrate API standards and International standards, ISO, about X90, X100 and X120. It becomes effective world integrated standards in autumn, 2006. API will decide on API conference in January, 2006. Oil major becomes to be able to design Natural gas pipe line project by high strength pipe. It seems that Japanese integrated maker, Nippon Steel, JFE Steel and Sumitomo Metal Industry, European major pipe maker, Euro Pipe take up commercial production of high-strength pipe. API’s working group had been examined the standard scheme of X90, X100 and X120 in Item 4193, and made the original plan for the standard against the high-strength pipe of over X90 grade in 2004. API examined the plan which API’s new standards, 44 edition, and International standard, ISO, 3183. The original plan was gave approval from ISO organization in the world. Consequently, API takes effect integrated standards in 2006. Oil majors are moving to seek cost reduction and efficiency of pipe line construction by enforcing of the steel pipe’s strength for build up of delivery capacity of natural gas. High strength steel pipe can transport natural gas much more, reduce transport cost. If it sifts to X100 from X80, the steel pipe strength raise by 20% and the steel pipe thickness reduce by 20%; the quantity consumed of the steel products decreased by 20%.User can get much merit.
