Chubu Steel Plate Manages Scrap Yard in the Middle of February

Chubu Steel Plate will start managing its scrap yard from the middle of February as construction for expansion of the scrap yard, which had been promoted since last July, was almost completed. Chubu will increases the stock capacity by just over 40% from the existing capacity to around 50,000 tonnes. Further, Chubu will control each of the varieties of scrap completely. Further, Chubu plans to improve the quality and yield in the scrap yard management. At the same time, Chubu will also introduce a vertical air cooling tower which controls regeneration of dioxin that is included in the waste gas generating out of electric furnace as part of reinforcement of green action. The current regulation value of density level of dioxin in the gas is less than 5 nanogram-toxicity equivalence quantity (TEC) per cubic meter. Chubu’s density level of dioxin is within the regulation. There is tightening of the regulation in the future, etc. as the background that Chubu will advance environmental measures. The construction of the cooling tower has continued since last May. The operation will be starting in the beginning of March. The total investment for expansion of the yard and introduction of the cooling tower is about 1.2 billion yen. Chubu will use the expanded indoor scrap yard for its stockpiling and the outdoor yard for its revolving stock, and the firm aims at cost reduction by the more improved quality and thorough material yield management. In addition, Chubu will mitigate influence of the market prices that brings about purchase prices of materials through its boosting their stockpiles and also stabilize the purchase prices.
