Tostem to Raise the Aluminum Building Material Price by Average 14%

Tostem, the biggest aluminum sash maker in Japan, raised the building material price by average 14% from the contract of March 27. Tostem is considering the price hikes of building materials for residences. Tostem had advanced the cost reduction such as expansion of the overseas production, restructuring of the plants and the stop of the money-losing order entries of the building materials. However, the price of aluminum ingot, the raw material, increased, and the sub-material price rose sharply. Thus, Tostem recognized limit of the independent efforts and decided to raise the selling price of the products.As for the aluminum sash industry, YKKAP, Sankyo Tateyama Holdings Group, Shinnikkei and Fuji Sash announced their intension of product price hikes.
