Japan Sheet Steel Import Increases by 16% in January

Japanese import of hot rolled sheet, cold rolled sheet and galvanizing steel increased by 34,433 tonnes to 250,080 tonnes in January from December. The import increased when the import from South Korea increased by 25,824 tonnes to 167,973 tonnes. The sheet import increased by 20,115 tonnes to 136,265 tonnes for hot rolled sheet, by 4,880 tonnes to 78,596 tonnes for cold rolled sheet and by 9,438 tonnes to 35,219 tonnes for galvanizing steel in January from December. The main sources were South Korea, Taiwan and China. The sheet import increased by 11,494 tonnes to 64,695 tonnes from Taiwan and increased to 13,879 tonnes slightly from China in January from December.
