The market price of colored galvanized steel sheet is flat in Tokyo. The price is around 184,000 yen per tonne for the products with 0.35 millimeters thick and less than 50 kilograms and 205,000 yen per tonne for the products with 0.35 mm thick and more than 50 kilograms.Shipment became especially low under the influence of heavy snow last winter, and inventory adjustment is behind in the market. The demand is expected for the building repair by the snow damage this spring, though the demand recovery is not certain before the holiday period in the beginning of May. The demand is also expected for the substitute of the roof containing asbestos.Raw material prices, such as aluminum and zinc, maintain high level. Colored steel sheet makers aim to keep their selling prices and dealers expect the makers might put their costs onto the selling price.Although inventory adjustment is behind, dealers are not concerned about the demand recovery, when the cargo movement is expected to become active in Tohoku and Hokkaido areas and the demand for non-residences is good. The market price is likely to keep flat though makers might raise their selling prices during the first half year to September 2006 with the surging material costs.
