Onamba, Osaka based electric wire and cable maker, announced on Monday the firm agreed with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. to tie up in overseas sales business of solar cell wiring unit, called photovoltaic unit (PVU). Onamba expects to increase its PVU sales for foreign capital PV module makers rather than Japanese makers by Mitsui’s support and aims to achieve 35% share in world PVU market within 2006.Onamba produces electric wire and wiring harness at 14 plants in 9 countries except Japan and focuses on PVU business in recent years. The firm produces PVU at its 4 plants in Japan, Tijiuana of Mexico, Czech and Jiangsu of China in order to supply to Japanese PV module makers.Onamba already has about 30% market share as a top PVU maker in the world. The firm aims 35% share within 2006 taking advantage of Mitsui’s worldwide sales network.
