Firm Rebar Price in Tokyo

The market price of concrete reinforcing steel bar keeps flat at around 58,000 yen per tonne for standard sized products with 19 millimeters diameter in Tokyo. The extra charge also maintains flat at 1,000 yen for small sized products with 13 millimeters diameter and 3,000 yen for 10 millimeters. Rebar shipment is increasing at makers and major dealers and keeps the level of usual years at distributors.According to The Japan Iron and Steel Federation, rebar supply is tight in the region mainly for base sized products and becomes tightening for small sized products with low stocks at makers. The shipment for some large construction projects is scheduled after Japanese holiday period in May or June. Supply seems to maintain brisk for a while entering demand season in April-June.In addition rebar price is also firm at overseas and Japanese export price increased to above FOB 50,000 yen per tonne. Demand is increasing from the U.S.A. and steel products price rebounded in Asia. Therefore, rebar price is likely to keep the current level for a while.
