Ferrous turning scrap price increased by 500 yen per tonne around Tokyo. The price is 10,900 yen for steel turning scrap and 13,900 yen for A grade pig iron turning scrap at dealers’ purchase price including freight. The market price is likely to keep firm along with the export price.The local demand is slow when local electric furnace steel makers have less appetite for scrap just after the week long holiday. However, the export shipping is increasing these days gradually making the supply tighter. Some local dealers said they are running out of scrap inventory.
