Flat Plate Price around Tokyo

Market price of steel plate is flat at 79,000-80,000 yen per tonne for products with 19 millimeters thick, 5 feet width and 10 feet length around Tokyo. The price is 95,000-10,000 yen for cutting plate. The demand is slow for building while the demand keeps firm for construction and industrial machinery. The market price is likely to keep the level under the slow distributors’ market. Some shearing processors are still busy to meet firm demand for machinery. However, the processors for building are still suffered from lower demand. An industry source said the building demand will increase after the off-season when construction will start for major buildings around Tokyo. The distributors’ inventory is still high level. However, an industry source said the stock decreases and the supply could be tighter in second half of the year when bridge building season starts.
