Alumina Price Stays at High Level

Alumina price stays at the high level. Current spot price is at US$ 600 per tonne and seems to stay at the level for a while as primary aluminium price also maintains high.Alumina spot price has surged thanks to Chinese active demand. Alumina producing joint ventures including Alunorte in Brazil and Worsley in Australia are preparing for output expansion. However, alumina supply is likely to keep tight for a while. Global alumina supply was short against the demand in 2005 and maintains still tight at present, though the shortage is expected to be eased in 2006.Japanese major trading houses forecast alumina price would decrease in the second half of 2006 or in 2007.
