Ferrous scrap market price is increasing at around 20,600 yen per tonne for pressed new cutting scrap and around 19,600 yen for product without press at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the high level. Local electric furnace steel makers pay 27,000-28,000 yen per tonne for new cutting scrap. Some dealers see the makers could increase the purchase price more. Special steel makers try to secure high grade scrap more and the purchase price is increasing. The shipping price of new cutting scrap is more than FAS 27,000 yen per tonne, which is in line with local makers’ purchase price.
