Makers’ Hikes to Lift Colored Galvanizing Steel Price

Market price of colored galvanizing flat steel is flat at 184,000 yen per tonne for 10 tonnes coil with 0.35 millimeters of thick and at 205,000 yen for 2 tonnes coil around Tokyo. The price is expected to increase after the makers increase the selling price. Dealers’ shipment of colored galvanizing flat steel is flat around Tokyo though dealers expected higher demand for recovery of heavy snow damage. The slower demand is also due to lower housing starts in Hokkaido and Tohoku area though nonresidential building starts increase slightly. Flat steel makers will increase the selling price for July shipment to cover higher cost of zinc and aluminium, which are raw materials of galvanizing steel. The makers would increase the price again after October if those metals’ price would keep the high level. An official of flat steel maker expects the raw materials’ price would keep the level for a while. The makers are likely to increase the selling price again after October when they will have to pay higher cost price for material flat steel with higher iron ore price.
