Market price of H-beam is 75,000 yen per tonne for base size with 200 by 100 millimeters widths around Tokyo. The price could keep the level with slower demand though some distributors recognize slightly demand improvement. The dealers’ H-beam inventory decreased by 2.6% to 40,726 tonnes at the end of May from April, according to members’ report by Tokyo Steel Product Dealers Association. The shipment increased by only 0.1% to 17,959 tonnes while the arrivals from makers decreased by 3.9% to 17,304 tonnes when integrated steel makers reduce shipment for dealers. The demand was apparently slow in May with a week long holiday. However, the market price increases the stability when the inventory keeps decreasing. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing is expected not to reduce the selling price when the firm announces the selling price for July order next week. The distributors expect the price will keep stable and could increase if Tokyo Steel would announce another hike.
