Koichi Kitamura, president of Mitsubishi Aluminum, explained the mid-term management plan of the firm including the improvement of productive equipment at Fuji plant in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan at a press conference on Friday held for the first time after he assumed the president. Mr. Kitamura said the firm aimed to strengthen the group management and risk management, to improve the financial condition, to review and reorganize the affiliates mainly for aluminium foil and daily goods and to accelerate research and development. At Fiji plant, the firm will expand the output capacity from present 178,000 tonnes to around 200,000 tonnes in the future by the renewal of productive equipment. Mr. Kitamura said the renewal targets the improvement of products quality rather than the output volume expansion. Mr. Kitamura indicated the firm basically follows the 3-year management plan to fiscal 2007 ending March 2008 and the management policy of the previous president, Akikuni Nozoe. Mitsubishi Aluminum estimates the sales and profits for fiscal 2006 at the level as same as fiscal 2005 when the firm posted record accounts.
