Flat H-Beam Price in Tokyo

H-beam price is flat at 75,000 yen per tonne for product with 200 by 100 millimeters width without freight around Tokyo. The price is expected to keep the level despite of the slow demand when makers try to reduce the supply to distributors and distributors’ inventory decreases. Nippon Steel will announce distributors’ inventory level in July. The inventory is expected to decrease around Tokyo. Distributors focus on the shipment level when the level has kept less than 30,000 tonnes per month in the year. The shipment was near 30,000 tonnes at 29,953 tonnes in June, which was 9.8% higher than May. Integrated steel makers including Nippon Steel are expected to keep the selling price level. However, they could increase the price if the distributors’ shipment would recover. The distributors try to keep the market price level preparing for potential higher demand and higher cost price.
