Japan Aluminium Rolled Products Production Decreases in July

Japanese production of aluminium rolled products decreased by 0.1% to 206,789 tonnes and the shipment dropped by 0.7% to 200,636 tonnes in July from a year earlier, announced by Japan Aluminium Association on Friday. Both production and shipment decreased from a year ago for 2 straight months. The production and shipment slightly decreased with the stagnant demand for can material.The production and shipment of aluminium plate were firm in July thanks to the active demand for automobiles and electric appliances, while those of aluminium foil and the export decreased from a year ago for 2 consecutive months. The production and shipment of aluminium extrusion increased from a year ago for 4 months in a row when the demand turned upward for constructions, the main usage field of extrusion. Aluminium foil demand was favorable for capacitors while low for daily commodities. The shipment of aluminium foil turned to the increase in July after 2 months, while the output continued decreasing for 2 months.
