Gunma Kankyo Recycle Center, the joint venture between Furukawa Co., Ltd. and Toho Zinc to dispose medical wastes, located in Gunma Prefecture of Japan, keeps high operation rate at around 50% since August. The JV aims to keep full operation to dispose 35 tonnes of medical wastes per day. At the same time, the JV plans to introduce a melting furnace to start the melting treatment business of medical and industrial wastes.The capital of the JV is 400 million yen, 65% of which Furukawa invests and 35% Toho Zinc. The JV started commercial operation in April 2006 with capacity to incinerate 35 tonnes of wastes per day under 24 consecutive hours operation.
