Colored Steel Sheet Market Price Keeps Strong in Tokyo

The market price of colored coated steel sheet is strong at 215,000 yen per tonne for thin small coil with thickness of 0.35 millimeters, at 194,000 yen for large coil around Tokyo. Nisshin Steel announced the price hike by 10,000 yen per tonne from October shipping, but other makers pass over the price hike in October shipping. It is watched how the firm’s price hike make an influence to the market price.Each maker raised their selling price by over 10,000 yen per tonne from July shipping when zinc and aluminum price rose rapidly. However, they said the hike was not enough to cover the costs and supposed additional hike from October 2006.Many makers postponed the second hike in October because dealers’ price hike delayed, passed the increasing cost price on the reselling prices in August-September. However, each maker doesn’t change the plan to raise the selling price early since the increasing cost price has a considerable impact on their profit. One dealer said the demand in autumn is low than originally expected, but the supply and demand becomes tight by degree. There is possible that dealers raise their selling price after the supply and demand becomes tight.
