Nikko Shoji, which is Tokyo based nonferrous trading firm of Nippon Mining group, started sulfuric acid export business after acquisition of the business in the month from chemical trading firm. Nikko Shoji will export the products along with traditional domestic sales. The firm tries to expand the sales business as one of the strategic items when sulfuric acid demand expands as base material of chemical products mainly in offshore market. Nikko Shoji’s sulfuric acid sales were around 3.1 billion yen in fiscal 2004, which represented 6% of the total sales. The firm is the domestic largest sulfuric acid seller but the business was only in domestic market. With the acquisition, the firm tries to export the product for Chinese fertilizer companies. The firm targets to trade 10% of annual 6.5 million tonnes of domestic sulfuric acid output.
