H-beam price is firm at 75,000 yen per tonne for base size with 200 x 100 millimeters width without freight around Tokyo. The low side of the price increased by 1,000 yen recently when distributors try to increase the reselling price by 2,000 yen since late October. The demand is still slow. However, the price could keep firm for a while. Tokiwa-kai, which is group of distributors dealing Nippon Steel’s H-beam, reported the H-beam stock increased by 0.4% to 63,818 tonnes at the end of October from a year earlier. The inventory for shipment was 2.01 months and it has kept less than 3 months since January. The point to increase the price is if the shipment reaches 30,000 tonnes per month in Tokyo. The shipment was 31,815 tonnes in October but the level is still low for the demand season.
