Nippon Steel Achieves New Output Record at Nagoya Works

Nippon Steel announced on Friday the firm achieved a new record in Japan on monthly production for no.3 pickling line and no.2 cold rolling line at Nagoya works in October. The firm produced 188,500 tonnes at no.3 pickling line in October, which exceeded record 183,200 tonnes in March 2001, and 191,200 tonnes at no.2 cold rolling line which exceeded record 181,800 tonnes in August 1997.Both are core production lines to produce thick cold-rolled steel sheet for automobile, home appliance and construction materials. Nippon Steel has advanced bottleneck elimination in rolling speed, complete control of maintenance to keep full operation under tight supply such for steel sheet for automobile.Nagoya iron works is Nippon Steel’s core production base for high grade steel products such as steel sheet for automobile. The woks have 2 blast furnaces and annual crude steel output was 6.07 million tonnes in fiscal 2005 ended March 2006. Nippon Steel advances output expansion plan at Nagoya works to increase pig iron making and steel making capacity by about 10% with expansion of no.1 blast furnace volume and the addition of a steel converter.
