Japanese cathode copper export increased by 33.9% to 23,215 tonnes in October from a year earlier, announced by Ministry of Finance on Thursday. The export increased by 30% to 10,854 tonnes for China, which is the largest importer of cathode copper from Japan, and by 48% to 9,539 tonnes for Taiwan.Copper scrap export decreased by 9.7% to 35,370 tonnes in October from a year ago, which decreased by 7% to 32,985 tonnes for China. Copper scrap export decreased from a year earlier because the export was at over 39,000 tonnes of high level in October 2005. Copper demand maintains strong in China and Japanese cathode copper export increased for a country.
