Japan Stainless Steel Scrap Export Hits Record in Jan-Oct

Japanese stainless steel scrap export was totally 242,270 tonnes in January-October, which exceeded 217,980 tonnes of yearly record marked in 2004. The export increased largely for China as well as for South Korea in 2006. The annual export is expected to reach around 300,000 tonnes through 2006.Japanese stainless scrap export increased by 46% to 28,680 tonnes in October from 19,610 tonnes in September, which increased by 30% from 22,030 tonnes in October 2005, according to Ministry of Finance. The volume hit thirdly highest next to 31,740 in April 2006 and 29,510 tonnes in August 2006.The export increased by 28% to 15,560 tonnes for South Korea in October from 12,180 tonnes in September, which decreased by 6% from October 2005. The export for China was 12,160 tonnes in October, which exceeded record in May 2006, increasing by 201% from 6,060 tonnes in September and by 243% from 5,010 tonnes in October 2005.
