Firm Colored Galvanizing Steel Price in Tokyo

Colored galvanizing flat steel price is firm at 215,000 yen per tonne for small coil and at 194,000 yen for large coil with 35 millimeters thick around Tokyo. The price is expected to keep firm when the distributors try to increase the reselling price after Nippon Steel & Sumikin Coated Sheet and Yodogawa Steel Works will increase the selling price by 10,000 yen per tonne in January.

The distributors try to pass the higher cost price on the reselling price. However, the process is expected to take longer time under slow demand season. The distributors could have trouble for the hike under resistance of the users. The distributors said they cannot absorb the entire hike by makers only through own effort. With higher zinc cost, the makers and distributors try to pass the higher cost price.

The distributors’ shipment is in line with a year earlier. The demand is firm for nonresidential building under aggressive capital expenditure by private sectors while housing start decreases in northern area of Japan.
