Firm Carbon Steel Wire Price in Tokyo

Carbon steel wire price is firm at 91,000 yen per tonne for standard wire with 4 millimeters of diameter and 83,000 yen for general use wire when the makers try to increase the selling price after the wire rod makers increased the selling price by 5,000 yen per tonne for January order by Godo Steel and for February order by Nakayama Steel Works. Domestic wire rod makers increased the selling price in spring of 2005 and have kept the price level. Despite of the higher rod price, the wire makers and distributors couldn’t pass the higher cost price on their selling price totally due to the slump of the users of civil work industry. The users keep seeking lower price when cheaper price prevails for processed with imported cheap wire rod. However, domestic wire makers try to increase the selling price under lower import level, higher cost price and tighter wire rod supply.
