Steel sheet price is firm at 69,000-71,000 yen per tonne for hot rolled flat steel, at 74,000-76,000 yen for pickling steel and at 80,000-82,000 yen for cold rolled steel around Tokyo.The demand keeps high level for automobiles and electric appliances. However, the market price seems to enter a temporary adjustment phase when domestic integrated steel makers cannot announce the price hike because Tokyo Steel Manufacturing set the steel sheet selling price unchanged for April orders. Stagnancy of Asian market price also impacts Japanese domestic market.Steel sheet supply maintains short especially for hot-rolled products. Distributors have some stock out sizes around Tokyo. Large dealers and coil centers keep strong selling stances and are raising their reselling prices.
