Firm H-Beam Price in Tokyo

H-beam market price is firm at 76,000 yen per tonne without freight for base size with 200 by 100 millimeters width around Tokyo. The increase mood is relative weak due to slower distributors’ shipment and seasonal low demand in fiscal year end. However, the market is likely to keep firm when the distributors still try to increase the reselling price. Sumikin Steel & Shapes left the selling price unchanged for April as Tokyo Steel Manufacturing. Other makers also show no sign to increase the price. The distributors have more time to pass the higher cost price. Some distributors seek 77,000 yen per tonne and the pressure supports the market price despite of the slower demand. However, other distributors still insist on sales volume to secure profit for the fiscal year to March 2007. The mixed move by distributors prevents the market price from higher level.
