Flat H-Beam Price in Tokyo

H-beam market price is flat at 76,000-77,000 yen per tonne without freight for product with 200 by 100 millimeters width at dealers’ selling price around Tokyo. The dealers’ shipment is still slow even after a-week long holiday in early May and the buyers’ sentiment shows no sign to improve. The demand recovery could tale more time in the dealers’ market though the building demand is expected to improve and the supply will decrease under output reduction. The dealers’ shipment apparently decreased in April from March and a dealer source said the shipment dropped slightly. However, their inventory was expected to decrease due to lower arrivals from makers and the dealer source said the stock decreased by 5% from March level. The dealers reduce the purchase from makers and the makers reduce the shipment for dealers. The supply side activities started to reduce the inventory. The makers said they get more order for special grade items for building construction through direct transaction with users though the sourcing activity was delay. The building demand could improve from the recent bottom and could have positive impact on the dealers’ market though the small sized building activity is still uncertainty. The dealers’ market is likely to improve the supply balance along with the output reduction.
