Kobe Steel Launches New Shipbuilding High Tensile Plate

Kobe Steel announced the firm launched marketing of the original high tensile plate for shipbuilders after the firm confirmed the better workability property at heat bending. The firm tries to ship monthly 1,000 tonnes of the product.The firm improved the existing TMCP or thermo mechanical control process plate, Hizumi-less. The new item, which can reduces residual stress, has one sixth variability of yield stress through the new rolling system. With the item, the users can reduce the number of process with better accuracy. The firm confirmed the item can reduce working hours by 10-20% for bending processes of container carriers and balk carriers. The firm expects with the product, unskilled workers can process bending easier and the nature of the steel product can help skill-building. The firm tries to expand the sales of the new item with existing Hizumi-less, which the firm already sold more than 50,000 tonnes since the launch in May 2001.
