Ferrous scrap market price is weak at 22,400 yen per tonne for steel turning scrap, 25,400 yen for A grade pig iron turning scrap and 24,400 yen for B grade pig iron turning scrap at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is expected to keep weak when local electric furnace steel makers could reduce scrap purchase price under sufficient supply. Local electric furnaces pay around 29,000 yen per tonne for turning scrap and some pay as high as 30,500 yen. They keep the purchase price in the month. However, they could reduce the price when they get smooth scrap arrival enough to the consumption.
