Steel Plantech to Receive Steel Converter Order from Hyundai Steel

Japanese steel making plant maker, Steel Plantech announced on Thursday the firm received an order for steel converter equipment from Hyundai Steel, South Korean major electric furnace steel maker, which plans the construction of a new integrated steel plant at crude steel production capacity of 8 million tonnes per year. They signed on Wednesday. Order value is about15 billion yen.Steel Plantech will deliver 3 mechanical stirring desulfurization facilities for preliminary processing of hot metal, 3 converters for steel making including tail gas equipment, 2 vacuum degassing equipment and a ladle furnace. The firm is continuing the negotiation for continuous casting equipment.Hyundai Steel’s new steel plant will start operation in January 2010 whose construction will complete in October 2010. The plant will operate step by step.Steel Plantech contested with European steel plant makers for this order from Hyundai Steel. Steel Plantech won the order thanks to its price competitive power and experiences based on many actual achievements for steel plant from Hyundai Steel. The major covenanter is Mitsubishi Corporation which coordinated this order.
